Music tuning fork

1.       Application:

       The resonance forks model 440Hz offers middle school to perform sound                                  resonance, interference and bear note. In experiments of measuring sonic speed and transmitting sound in solid and liquid, the tuning-fork can be taken as a sound source. It can also be used in various tests such as sound occurrence, interference, transmitting sound in various kinds of matters.

2.       Performance and Specification:

       This instrument is composed of two tuning-forks with the same frequency.,made of No.45 carbon steel, and they are chromium plated. Their edge angles are regular. The frequency is 440 cycles/second, the cross-section of the fork-prong is 6.5*16mm, and fork-prong arms is 109mm long and the distancebetween the two arms is 17mm. There are a pair of resonant boxes made of the pine tree in Chinas northeast region, a rebber beater and a cupper ring which changes the frequency.

3.       Usage and Mantenance:

       In a silent room, respectively plug the two tuning-forks on the two resonant boxes, one is a half meter from the another, with their opennings opposite to each other. Then beat one of these two forks, after 2-3seconds, silence this one with hand, but the sound resonated form the second can be heard. If the fork-prong of one tuning-fork is loaded with a copper ring and then beat another, the resonance can not be gained only because of the different frequencies of the two forks. Other tests can be carried out according to the ordinary tuning-forks tests.

        The tuning-forks must be protected from falling and high temperature for avoiding the frequency change, The soft beater should be used to tap the fork-prong. After usage, the instrument should be coated with the acid-free rust-proof oil. The connectong of the fork, with the box should be safe. The fork , shake  should be forbidden for fear that the socket on the resonant box could be damaged and the connection could be loosened, and for this reason, or the test result would be affected.
